Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable are reporting the shooting of two people and one of the victims succumbed to his injuries overnight .
Authorities said at around 2:26 a.m., Newark Police were called to Passaic Street in the area of Foxes Go Go Bar in the north side of the city on a report of a shooting. Authorities said as police arrived, they were informed that two victims had been transported to University Hospital in a private vehicle.
Victim, Sharod Coleman, 23, of East Orange was pronounced dead at 2:56 am, the second victim remains in stable condition according to authorities.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force which includes the Newark Police is investigating the incident. Currently, there are no suspects and there is no motive. The investigation is on going .
Anyone with information is asked to contact the ECPO and NPD hotlines all calls will be kept confidential. The Essex County Sheriff's Crime Stoppers is also offering a $10,000.00 dollar reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
