A tragic motor vehicle accident occurred on the I-78 West interstate at milepost 51.4 in Union Twp., Union County, at 6:09 a.m. today.
State Police officials said early findings from the scene suggest that a Ford pick-up truck, a Mazda passenger vehicle, and a Zugo E-bike were all traveling westbound when a collision transpired between the Ford and the E-bike.
Following the initial impact, the E-bike, ridden by Irving Batista, 34, of Jersey City, overturned and was subsequently hit by the Mazda.
The unfortunate incident resulted in fatal injuries for Batista.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the details of the crash.
