The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified of a shooting that killed a male victim in Newark’s South Ward this evening.
It happened just before 6:30 p.m. in the vicinity of 367 Wainwright Street.
Preliminary information from the scene revealed that officers responded to reports of shots fired in that community and when they arrived at the scene, cops found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to his head.
The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported and the investigation remains active.
