Celebration for Man Acquitted for Paterson Homicide Ends in Gunfire; Teenage Girl Injured

An early morning shooting that took place in the area of Madison Ave. and Market Street sent police to the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m. where they found a female victim around the age of 17-years-old suffering injury from gunfire. 

The girl was rushed to St. Josephs Hospital where she was reported to be in critical condition. 

Police converged on the shooting scene that sources said was a celebration for Johnny "Macho" Milete a murder suspect who was acquitted for a 2010 shooting of a 19-year-old man in the city. 

According to court documents, a jury found Johnny Milete, 24,  not guilty last week in the shooting death of city resident Daval Cox. Milete was accused of exiting a parked car and firing several shots on a group of men that were gathered at the intersection of East 19th Street and Park Avenue on Nov. 13, 2010. 

According to court documents, Earlier in the week, Milete pleaded guilty to possessing 25 bags of heroin in the Passaic County Jail.  A judge applied his four years and three months in jail as credit in the murder case on those charges.
