A wild police pursuit for a suspect wanted for a carjacking Monday evening ended with a crash and arrest.
Police began following and tried to pull over a car wanted for a carjacking in Newark's South Ward, but the driver sped away from officers prompting the pursuit.
The chase touched off in several neighborhoods in the city but finally ended with a collision on the border of Newark's Central and South Ward around 8:12 p.m.
The suspect attempted to flee the Clinton Avenue and Murray Street crash scene, but officers successfully arrested the suspect.
Male and female Newark civilians who occupied a 2004 Gold Durango suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision after their vehicle was struck during the crash.
No officers were injured in the pursuit.
