BREAKING: Police Investigate Shooting in Newark's Central Ward, Three Injured

Newark Police have cordoned off a section of the Central Ward after a shooting incident left two people wounded late this afternoon.

Authorities were alerted to the violence at around 5:15 p.m. by a ShotSpotter activation near the intersection of Avon Avenue and South 15 Street.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered multiple shell casings and two victims with gunshot injuries.

A third victim suffered a graze wound. 

The injured parties were quickly transported to University Hospital, though details about their condition remain unclear at this time.

The Newark Shooting Response Team is actively combing the area for evidence as part of their ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting has fled the scene and is currently at large.

Local residents are urged to stay clear of the area and report any suspicious activity as police work to apprehend the perpetrator.

This incident has shaken the community, and authorities are calling for anyone with information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
