Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that two men from Bergen County face serious charges involving the assault and endangerment of a minor.

Englewood resident Mr. Eliezer Kopelowitz, 67, and Mr. Wayne Bambling, 59, from River Edge, have been arrested with charges that shed light on allegations within the community.

The arrests came about after the New Milford Police Department reached out to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit on Friday, April 5, 2024, concerning the alleged sexual assault of a minor aged between 13 and 17 in New Milford, NJ.

The ensuing investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the New Milford Police Department revealed disturbing details about Kopelowitz and Bambling's involvement in the crime.

Kopelowitz faces charges of second-degree sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of gamma hydroxybutyrate, criminal sexual contact, and possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia.

Bambling has been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and criminal sexual contact.

Kopelowitz's possession of gamma hydroxybutyrate, commonly known as GHB, along with drug paraphernalia, adds a complex layer to the case, indicating the possible use of substances to facilitate the criminal act.

Prosecutor Musella has emphasized that these charges are merely accusations at this stage.

The accused individuals, Kopelowitz and Bambling, are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and local law enforcement urge anyone with additional information or concerns to come forward as they continue to investigate and ensure the safety and well-being of the community's youth.
