Armed Suspect After Shooting Damages Vehicle in Newark’s Central Ward

In Newark's Central Ward, law enforcement officials are on the search for an individual responsible for discharging a firearm, leading to property damage in a local neighborhood.ChickenThe incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning, around 3:17 a.m., when a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire at the intersection of Livingston Street and 18th Avenue, prompting immediate police response.

Upon arrival, officers discovered several shell casings and observed a vehicle that had been struck by bullets at the scene.

Fortunately, the car was unoccupied at the time of the shooting, and a subsequent search of the surrounding area revealed no victims.

The Newark Shooting Response Team was swiftly called to the scene to assist in the investigation.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Authorities are actively investigating and urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing search for the suspect.
